Shikago stood on the shore where the waves of water rushed in to softly reach the tips of his shoes. What he was about to attempt was a basic technique for ninja, but the fundamentals were requisite. It was imperative that he learn this now while he had the opportunity, and afterward, he could move onto more advanced things. Now was the time for Shikago to do his best with the first and simplest of these techniques, though. An E-rank jutsu known as the “Walk on Water Technique” required his undivided attention and unmitigated focus as he took his first step onto the water. Needless to say, his foot simply fell through and into the sand beneath the surface. With each deliberated step, Shikago got further and further into the water until it was level with his knees. He was feeling as though no progress was even being made.
Several hours passed as Shikago struggled to gain any traction with this jutsu. ”Tch,” he spat with his hands on his hips, ”This crap is getting on my last nerves.” He pulled his foot out of the water and onto the surface, and as he did this he focused on channeling chakra into the sole of his foot and rapidly shifting it to the rhythm of the ever-changing water. To his surprise, he suddenly figured it out. He stood with both feet shakingly planted on the water. He could hardly figure out what to do until he remembered that he had to take actual steps before allowing himself to get excited; after all, he hadn’t actually walked on water just yet. He began to walk and was impressed with himself. He smiled with his eyes fixed on the shifting water and head down. ”Awesome!” he exclaimed.
Ten minutes later, Shikago was running on the water fifty meters away from the shore. It felt excellent, and it seemed to be of little struggle to him now. He had gotten the hang of this and wanted to further his mastery of the technique by continuing the rest of his training while on the water. He knew that true mastery would be indicated by having the ability to focus deeply on other things yet not lose his ability to stand on water. He attempted a D-rank Genjutsu that he had been taught months ago by his previous sensei. His hands first formed the Snake hand sign followed by the Rat hand sign, and soon thereafter, he said, “Magen: Narakumi no Jutsu”. He focused on his chakra so as to know whether or not he could succeed. After all, there was no human test subject at his disposal, so he had to rely on the “feel” of the technique to see if he still knew how to do it correctly.
The final technique he learned in his training, though, was an elemental Ninjutsu. This was one of the most common techniques of his particular element, but of course, Nature Transformation was no easy feat. His hands wove an intricate series of six hand signs: Snake → Ram → Monkey → Boar → Horse → Tiger. He spewed forth a rotating orb of fire twice his size that evaporated the water beneath it as it travelled ten meters forward. "Katon: Gokakyu no Jutsu!"
